While many people enjoy the Sydney CBD and the beaches of the seaside suburbs, a whole new world awaits to be explored in Sydney’s vast Western Suburbs. The west is an expansive and trending area that’s growing and evolving all the time and it’s well worth checking out when you’re looking for things to see, do and entertain yourself in the Greater Sydney area.

Let’s take a look at some cool suburbs in the west and the reasons why you should check them out.

Visiting the Parramatta District is a Must

Parramatta is the satellite city out west and is one of the most popular and fastest growing districts. It really has become the place to be in recent years and seems to be getting better and better all the time.

There is something to do in Parramatta at any time of the day or night. If you enjoy shopping, you’ll love wandering the Parramatta streets. There is also a park on the lush banks of the Parramatta River where you can chill out and eat a picnic lunch or just take it easy.

The district is well known for its cafes, bars and exciting nightlife. If you enjoy chilling out in a cafe or bar hopping with your friends, Parramatta is the perfect place to do just that. It’s also home to some of the area’s best nightclubs, if partying into the wee hours of the morning is your thing.

If you want to experience all the fun and excitement that the Western Suburbs can offer, then Parramatta definitely has to be on your list.

Awesome Dining and Entertainment In Silverwater

Silverwater is also a suburb located by the banks of the meandering Parramatta River. There are also some top restaurants in Silverwater. If you’re looking for the best food in Silverwater, you’ll discover you have a number of options to choose from.

Dooleys Waterview Club is one fantastic option, but you can also choose from a number of other restaurants and venues for the best food and drinks in Silverwater.

Eating and drinking are not all you can do in Silverwater. As mentioned, it’s located right on the edge of the river and there is parkland and a walking track that follows the river’s edge. It’s a fantastic location to chill out or get some exercise with picturesque views.

Visit Penrith, the Gateway To the Majestic Blue Mountains

Way out west is the suburb of Penrith, located in the foothills of the stunning Blue Mountains. Apart from giving you easy access to the wonders of nature if you choose to venture up into the mountains, Penrith itself is a location that is experiencing tremendous growth and popularity.

Like Parramatta, Penrith is a shopper’s paradise, with modern malls and boutique specialty shops you can browse all day long. Penrith is also known for offering fun activities for people of all ages, such as the thrill of the Penrith Whitewater Stadium, jetpack adventure rides or feeling like you’re skydiving when you visit iFLY Downunder, an indoor skydiving simulator that feels like the real thing.

If you’re looking for something a little more sedate, you could try your hand at archery, or pay a visit to the local Museum of Fire and step back in time into Australia’s firefighting history.

There is much to see and do in and around the Penrith area.

Lidcombe and Surrounding Suburbs Have a Lot To Offer

Lidcombe is a suburb located in the heart of Sydney’s West. It’s a place that’s also been experiencing an upsurge in popularity of late. For starters, it’s a fantastic location for dining, shopping and kicking back with a few drinks. Lidcombe is also handy to all forms of public transport if you don’t have a vehicle.

Nearby, you can play a round of golf at some of the district’s best golf courses. There is also the iconic Rookwood Cemetery, one of the largest and oldest in the country. You could spend an entire day exploring the Rookwood grounds. It’s well worth a visit.

In Conclusion
